The Assistant Manager - E-commerce Merchandiser role manages end-to-end merchandising and buying activities for direct-to-consumer (D2C) e-commerce operations. This onsite position combines assortment planning, product selection, pricing, inventory management, performance analysis, and cross-functional coordination to support online sales across digital channels.
Responsibilities
E-commerce Merchandising
Manage the online product assortment across all digital channels
Ensure accurate product information, including titles, descriptions, specifications, images, pricing, attributes, and inventory status
Plan timely product and seasonal launches in coordination with marketplace and brand website operations teams
Conduct regular audits to identify content gaps, pricing errors, stock issues, and listing discrepancies
Buying and Assortment Planning
Support the development of seasonal and category-wise buying plans
Analyse historical sales, market trends, competitor activity, and customer preferences to inform buying decisions
Ensure buying decisions are aligned with sales forecasts, inventory budgets, and company guidelines
Inventory and Stock Management
Monitor inventory levels, stock cover, sell-through, ageing stock, slow-moving items, and stock-outs
Minimise lost sales caused by stock-outs while maintaining healthy inventory levels
Reporting and Business Analysis
Prepare regular reports on sales, stock, sell-through, margins, availability, returns, and product performance
Prepare category review presentations and business updates for management
Track performance against budgets, targets, forecasts, and key performance indicators
Provide actionable recommendations based on business and customer insights
Cross-functional Coordination
Coordinate product launches and campaign execution with product and marketing teams
Ensure alignment between buying plans, marketing calendars, inventory availability, and business objectives
Requirements
3–5 years of experience in e-commerce merchandising, buying, or category management
Experience working with online marketplaces such as Amazon, Flipkart, or Myntra, or with an organisation’s own D2C channel
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, inventory management, pricing, and vendor negotiation
Good analytical, communication, coordination, and decision-making skills
