The Assistant Manager - Production Planning & Control role oversees material management, inventory control, warehouse operations, and production planning activities within an automotive manufacturing environment. The position plays a key part in maintaining efficient material flow, optimising storage and logistics resources, developing operational teams, and supporting cost-effective production.

Responsibilities

  • Manage material receipt, Kanban systems, inventory, spare parts, and warehouse operations

  • Oversee inventory control for raw materials, child parts, sub-assemblies, finished goods, and goods in transit

  • Optimise warehouse space utilisation and implement storage improvement initiatives

  • Manage workforce deployment, monitor productivity, and maintain an efficient process flow

  • Use Systems, Applications and Products (SAP) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for inventory and material management

  • Promote workplace safety standards and implement the 5S methodology across operations

  • Monitor operational targets, conduct performance reviews, and ensure the timely completion of action plans

  • Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation in accordance with International Automotive Task Force (IATF) requirements

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to address defective materials and implement corrective actions

  • Manage logistics assets, including trucks, forklifts, trolleys, and bins

  • Monitor material movement and support Just-in-Time (JIT) implementation

  • Conduct team training, skill development, and DOJO activities

  • Maintain effective communication between management and operational teams

  • Prepare annual budgets and support cost optimisation initiatives

Requirements

  • Practical knowledge of production planning, material management, inventory control, and warehouse operations

  • Experience using SAP or another ERP system for inventory and material management activities

  • Understanding of Kanban systems, JIT implementation, 5S practices, and IATF documentation requirements

  • Ability to manage workforce deployment, monitor productivity, conduct operational reviews, and develop team capabilities

  • Strong coordination, reporting, budgeting, and problem-solving skills
