Key Responsibilities

The construction department is accountable for the following functions:

1. Project Planning & Execution

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute construction projects from initiation to handover

  • Interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts

  • Prepare project schedules, work programs, and method statements

  • Coordinate with design, procurement, QA/QC, and safety teams

  • Risk identification and mitigation.

     

2. Site Management

  • Supervise daily construction activities at project sites

  • Manage site engineers, supervisors, foremen, and subcontractors

  • Ensure adherence to approved drawings, specifications, and procedures

  • Monitor progress and resolve site-related technical issues

     

3. Quality Control

  • Ensure construction work meets quality standards and client requirements

  • Implement QA/QC procedures and inspections

  • Coordinate testing, commissioning, and snag rectification

     

4. Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies

  • Ensure compliance with local laws, building codes, and statutory regulations

  • Conduct safety briefings, audits, and risk assessments

     

5. Cost & Schedule Control

  • Monitor project budgets and control costs

  • Track material usage, labor productivity, and equipment efficiency

  • Identify delays and implement corrective actions

  • Variation and claim management

  • Forecasting and cost optimization

     

6. Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, vendors, and government authorities

  • Attend progress meetings and prepare reports

  • Coordinate approvals, inspections, and certifications

 

7. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain site records, daily progress reports, and logs

  • Ensure proper documentation for billing, variations, and handover

  • Support project closeout and final documentation submission

 

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods and materials

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

  • Project management and coordination skills

  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or related field

  • Relevant experience in building, infrastructure, or industrial construction

  • Familiarity with construction software and project management tools is preferred
