The Quantity Surveyor (QS) Engineer role manages the contractual and financial aspects of construction projects, including cost estimation, cost control, contract management, and procurement. Working onsite, the position collaborates with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to support the timely and cost-effective delivery of projects.
Responsibilities
Cost Estimation and Planning
Prepare detailed cost estimates for various stages of each project
Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses
Develop budgets and monitor expenditure
Contract Management
Prepare, negotiate, and analyse contracts and procurement agreements
Ensure that contracts comply with legal and regulatory requirements
Manage contract changes and variations
Cost Control and Reporting
Monitor project costs and expenditure
Prepare regular financial reports and forecasts
Conduct cost analyses and recommend cost-saving measures
Procurement
Identify and source materials and services
Evaluate bids from suppliers and subcontractors
Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors
Risk Management
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
Project Coordination
Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients
Attend project meetings and provide financial and contractual advice
Assist with project scheduling and resource planning
Documentation and Records
Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and project documents
Prepare detailed reports and documentation for audits and reviews
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
3 to 6 years of experience working at construction sites
At least 3 years of experience supporting industrial projects
Experience with large-scale construction projects in India is highly desirable
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations
Knowledge of contract law and construction contracts, including FIDIC
Proficiency in computer-aided design software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure
Willingness to travel to different project sites
Fluency in English and Hindi
Knowledge of regional languages would be an advantage
