The Safety role is focused on supporting radiation safety, EHS compliance, and workplace risk management for onsite operations in Andhra Pradesh. This role is ideal for someone who can manage regulatory requirements, strengthen safety practices, and contribute to effective emergency preparedness across a specialised manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Radiation safety management

    • Monitor and control radiation exposure levels for workers, the public, and the environment

    • Conduct routine radiation monitoring, surveys, and exposure measurements

    • Maintain, review, and analyse personnel dosimetry records

    • Implement and promote ALARA principles across operations

  • Regulatory compliance

    • Ensure compliance with AERB regulations, licensing requirements, applicable statutory norms, and EHS standards

    • Support adherence to ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and legal compliance requirements

    • Manage regulatory documentation, internal and external audits, and statutory inspections

    • Prepare and submit compliance reports through AERB and other statutory portals

  • Training and awareness

    • Conduct radiation safety training for employees handling radiation sources and equipment

    • Deliver EHS training programmes covering PPE usage, hazard identification, emergency response, and waste management

    • Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and safety procedures

    • Organise and conduct mock drills for fire safety, radiation emergencies, and evacuation scenarios

  • Equipment and resource management

    • Ensure safe handling and operation of radiation-emitting equipment, including X-ray, gamma sources, and NDT systems

    • Oversee calibration, maintenance, and performance checks of monitoring instruments

    • Manage safe storage, transportation, and disposal of radioactive materials in compliance with regulations

    • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals and waste as per EHS standards

  • Environment, health, and safety responsibilities

    • Conduct workplace risk assessments such as HIRA and JSA

    • Monitor compliance with safety practices and PPE usage, and identify unsafe acts or conditions

    • Support environmental management initiatives, including waste management, pollution control, regulatory compliance, resource conservation, and sustainability initiatives

    • Monitor occupational health risks including exposure to noise, chemicals, radiation, and ergonomic hazards

    • Support the implementation of occupational health surveillance programmes

  • Incident and risk management

    • Investigate radiation incidents, workplace accidents, and near-miss events

    • Conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions

    • Maintain incident reporting systems and documentation

    • Ensure emergency preparedness and effective response systems are in place

Requirements

  • Knowledge of radiation safety management, EHS practices, and statutory compliance requirements

  • Familiarity with AERB regulations, licensing requirements, and compliance reporting processes

  • Understanding of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, HIRA, JSA, RCA, and CAPA processes

  • Ability to conduct safety training, develop SOPs, and support emergency mock drills

  • Knowledge of safe handling practices for radiation-emitting equipment, radioactive materials, hazardous chemicals, and waste

  • Strong documentation, monitoring, and reporting skills

  • Ability to identify unsafe acts or conditions and support practical safety improvements across onsite operations
