The Safety Officer role is responsible for supporting the implementation of safety standards across manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for a safety professional who can work closely with production, maintenance, quality, HR, engineering, contractor, and emergency response teams to promote a proactive and compliant workplace safety culture.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across production, maintenance, quality, HR, and engineering to implement safety standards across operations
Support team members in identifying hazards, assessing risks, and implementing appropriate control measures
Coordinate with team leaders and supervisors to ensure compliance with safety procedures, policies, and permit-to-work systems
Facilitate safety initiatives such as toolbox talks, safety campaigns, continuous improvement programmes, and mock drills
Work with maintenance and engineering teams to support the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment and machinery
Engage with contractor teams to ensure adherence to site safety standards and consistent safety practices
Analyse safety data, incidents, and observations to identify trends and support preventive strategies
Requirements
Experience or working knowledge of safety standards within an engineering or manufacturing environment
Ability to collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, HR, engineering, contractor, and emergency response teams
Understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures
Knowledge of safety procedures, policies, permit-to-work systems, and audit support activities
Ability to support safety training, toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and emergency preparedness activities
Strong communication skills with the ability to encourage open reporting of unsafe conditions or behaviours
