About the Role We are hiring on behalf of an esteemed client, a leader in automotive component manufacturing, for a skilled Product Design Engineer with specialization in Automotive Transmission and Body Cable systems. This role encompasses the complete design, development, and validation cycle of mechanical cable systems, with a strong focus on cross-functional collaboration and direct customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop a wide range of cables:
- Automotive Transmission Cables (AT/MT)
- Body Cables: Hood, Fuel Lid, Trunk Lid
- Functional Cables: Parking Brake, Clutch, and 2W (Clutch, Throttle, Brake)
- Create technical drawings using CATIA and AutoCAD; document designs using MS Office
- Evaluate materials aligned with automotive standards and performance metrics
- Utilize engineering methodologies:
- APQP, DFM/DFA, DFMEA
- GD&T, QFD
- CAE/FEA tools (where applicable)
- Apply Kaizen and VA/VE principles to enhance product cost-efficiency and manufacturability
- Collaborate directly with OEM customers for project reviews, feedback, and troubleshooting
- Adhere to IATF 16949 quality standards throughout the product life cycle
- Contribute to the development of advanced systems (preferred):
- Window Regulators
- Lid Open/Close Actuators
- Power Lift Gate Systems
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven experience in Automotive Transmission and Body Cable Design & Manufacturing
- Proficiency in CATIA and AutoCAD; exposure to CAE tools is advantageous
- Strong command of automotive-grade materials and GD&T practices
- Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation abilities
