1. Product Design & Development
- Develop 2D and 3D models for automotive components and packaging parts using CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, UG).
- Create detailed engineering drawings, GD&T, BOMs, and technical specifications.
- Participate in concept development, feasibility studies, and prototype design and development.
- Ensure design conformity with OEM requirements, industry standards, and functional performance goals.
2. Collaboration & Project Execution
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams (Production, Quality, SCM, Tool Manufacturer and Marketing) to ensure manufacturability and cost‑effectiveness.
- Coordinate with customers for technical reviews, design updates, and approval processes.
- Support new project launches, sample development, and design validation activities.
- Discuss with tool manufacturer regarding the tool design, technical aspects and tooling principles.
3. Engineering Analysis
- Perform tolerance stack-up, DFMEA, and basic structural/functional analysis.
- Evaluate design failures and participate in root-cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions.
- Support testing activities—fitment, functional tests, durability, and performance validation.
4. Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare design documents, ECNs, and revision control as per company procedures.
- Ensure designs meet regulatory, environmental, and safety compliance applicable to automotive components.
5. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve design, reduce cost, and enhance performance.
- Implement design optimisation, value engineering (VE) / value analysis (VA), and standardisation initiatives.
